About this app

Welcome to Drive Safe & Save, a safety app that can help you save on your State Farm® auto insurance and improve your driving habits.

You’ll get a 10% discount for signing up and completing the setup steps! After the initial participation period, how you drive will determine how much you save—up to 30%.*

The Drive Safe & Save app automatically records your trips and helps you understand your driving habits—what you’re doing well and what could be improved.**

Along your recent trip routes, the app shows you opportunities for safer driving by flagging these events: acceleration, braking, cornering, phone distraction and speed. (Events are opportunities to improve your driving.)

Check the app often to see:

• Your safety scores
• How much you’re saving per enrolled vehicle
• Number of recent trips that included driving events
• Your trip routes from the last 30 days
• Number of recorded trips from the last 14 days
• Opportunities to improve your driving habits
• Number of recorded miles from the last 14 days
• Safe driving tips
• Any vehicles on your policy that are eligible or enrolled in Drive Safe & Save Connected Car

You can also:

Log in easily with any of these methods: user ID and password, biometrics or your Driver’s License
See definitions of driving behaviors and events

They need to rework the sensitivity of how braking, acceleration, cornering, etc are calculated. I've had many trips that have been zero events, but scores seem to not move much at all. But as soon as there are events on trips the scores will drop quickly. Something just doesn't seem right with how points are calculated in trips. Always get dinged when I know I'm not driving in such a way that my scores drop. To sensitive.

I had issues with an update earlier this year, but it seems like they made adjustments again because I'm no longer getting dinged for going through roundabouts, entering freeways at normal speeds, etc in my small car. It now seems a lot more fair. My only remaining complaint is that the app signs me out every other week and I have to re-enter my driver license number, etc. But overall it's much improved and feels fairer.

This application is very sensitive to errors. As a result, I find myself running yellow/red lights to avoid not-so-hard braking that dings my score. I also prefer the overall percentage rather than different categories. My percentage has decreased when my car is in park, in a parking space, and I am checking something on my phone. A score of 99% is considered 'good' - really? I'm not much of a fan.
